Identifying head lice is pretty easy. The first way is to look for them with the naked eye. A louse(singular for lice) is about the size of a sesame seed and will be either grey or reddish in color. Even though they are very small, seeing them isn't impossible. The problem is that there may be as few as five or six on the child's entire head. Luckily, you will probably be able to see the sores and bumps they leave behind after feeding. They are very similar to mosquito bites but can also appear as large red sores. They are usually very itchy. If you notice that your child is scratching at his or her head more often than usual then you should consider checking them for lice.

The theory is that vinegar is made up of several acids. These acids will help loosen all of the egg sacks that are attached to the hair. Lice eggs are usually called nits. This will be a very good start when you want to get rid of lice. The problem is that vinegar can't be used as a complete treatment, you need to also use a commercial lice comb. Unlike regular combs, these combs are usually made out of a very hard material and the teeth are very very close together. This is because lice and their eggs are so small that they would fit through the teeth of normal combs.
If you don't find a treatment using vinegar as an effective way to get rid of lice, then you should consider using one of the commercial products available. If it is pesticides that worry you, there are also many very effective treatments made entirely with safe natural ingredients.
